What a trip this was! I arrived at the Westbury Music Fair early and about an hour before the doors opened, I waited and watched Natural (opening band) and Lou Pearlman (Trans Continental Records) walk down the street. Then after about twenty minutes, a caravan appeared and drove into the restricted area...Micky was driving!  He said he'd be out to sign autographs & take pictures later. Then Peter came out and after a few minutes, walked to the crowd of about twenty people, to sign autographs and take pictures. Of course, the one time I had the opportunity to meet a Monkee, I had nothing for him to sign!  But, I got the picture. Then the doors opened, and I decided not to wait for Micky (if he came out at all) and got the "2001: Live in Las Vegas" CD and 2001 tourbook. First, Natural came out and did a few songs, and because they had technical problems, their set was cut short. After they got the problem fixed, the band did the opening routine and over the speakers everyone heard "Micky, Davy, Peter...THE MONKEES!" The place went crazy as they headed into "Last Train To Clarksville" and "Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)."  Micky said "You know the one thing I hate about these revolving stages is that wherever I am, someone can see my bald spot." And Davy stood behind him and said "I can't."  Then on with "Randy Scouse Git," where at the end Micky keeps singing and Peter and Davy have to calm him down and send him to the drums after they say... "Where's Mike? Mike?" Then, all together they shout "He's gone!" Micky put his arms up when he got behind the drums and the crowd went crazy! Then Peter asked "You mean all he has to do is put his arms up and you people go wild?!?" So he puts his arms up and we scream. He puts them down we stop. And he makes a game of it and puts them up, down, up, down and we scream, stop, scream, stop!  After Peter's little game, "Mary, Mary" and "Your Auntie Grizelda," with Micky behind the drums, followed. They went on to do some more like "Can You Dig It," "For Pete's Sake," and "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You." Then, Davy performed his solo section with "Girl," "I'll Love You Forever," the "Oliver Medley," and " I Wanna Be Free." Micky and Peter come back to do "She Hangs Out," "Valleri," and "No Time" (with all three sharing lead vocals).  Then, for Peter's solo section, he explains how rock 'n roll changed his life and that Little Richard's "Lucille" was a song that was a favorite of his since he first heard it.  Micky and Davy came back (with Micky in a cowboy hat) to sing "Higher and Higher," with Peter on banjo. Micky's vocal dazzler, "Goin' Down," came next. For Micky's solo section, he did the blues song "Since I Fell For You," that his mother used to sing to him.  They moved on with songs like "Long Title: Do I Have To Do This All Over Again," "The Porpoise Song," "Listen To The Band," and "Daydream Believer" (with Natural). Then they came back for the encore of "I'm A Believer," "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone," and "Pleasant Valley Sunday." As they were leaving, Peter ran back out and went all around the stage to shake hands and wave, followed by Micky & Davy.  When they were done, all three chased each other offstage to finish off the show.  It was another amazing concert that was full of their trademark mix of comedy & music.
