The first and argueably best of the "sold only at concerts" albums captured Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, & Peter Tork at the height of their 1986 reunion tour. At that time, Monkees shows were selling out every venue they stopped at. What started off as a short ampitheatre tour burst into four years of arenas & stadiums, making it the #1 grossing tour of 1986. Recorded in Charleston, WV on December 1 at the Civic Center Arena and in Bethlehem, PA on December 3 at the Stabler Arena, the tour's final two dates, it resulted in a quality record that can't help but make the listener sense the excitement & energy of the large crowds that attended the concerts. The double LP set was made available on their 1987 North American tour and, for a short time only, by mail order as well.
When The Monkees went back out on tour in 1996 for their 30th anniversary, this album was re-issued on CD and sold at concerts, using a mint condition LP due to the fact that the master recordings had been lost. But, it has been reported that the masters may have been found since that time.
2001: Live In Las Vegas
In November 2000, it was announced that Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones, & Peter Tork would reunite as The Monkees for a short tour in March & April 2001. While not as popular as the 1986 concerts, this tour played to sold out crowds in theatres, casinos, & selected fairly large venues. This disc was recorded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV sometime between March 29 & 31, 2001, during their week-long stay. Put together and mixed in April & May before the kick-off of the tour's summer leg, this CD release was a hot item at the merchandise booth at a price of $20. Although it was not as well mixed and engineered as the previous "20th Anniversary 1986" album, due to the toning down of the audience in the studio making them hardly audible, The Monkees themselves deliver a show of great music & laughs. Also, toward the end of "Daydream Believer," Natural, the tour's special guests join the guys onstage. The last time new copies of this album were available was on Micky & Davy's UK tour in March 2002, which also saw the debut of their next "sold only at concerts" release.

After the "dismissal" of Peter Tork near the conclusion of the 2001 summer tour, Micky Dolenz & Davy Jones decided to continue their most recent reunion into 2002. Early in the year, the duo performed a few scattered dates in the U.S. & Canada. During one of their two concerts on March 11 & 12 at the Casino Rama in Toronto, Canada, one night, as Micky Dolenz later explained, "everything came together." They just happened to be recording the show for reference reasons and decided not to let a good opportunity go to waste since Tork was no longer in the group, making the previous album out of date. The CD, which some say was done with more effort than the previous album and also brought some more joking and fooling around between Dolenz & Jones. When the tour visited the UK in March, fans had an opportunity to purchase the last remaining 2001 CDs as well as the brand new 2002 disc. By the time they came back to North America, the 2001 CD had been long sold out and the newer release was available for $15. The last remaining new copies of this album are available at Davy Jones' 2003 solo concerts and at Micky Dolenz's official online store.
Monkee Mania 2002
Live In Toronto
Over the years, The Monkees have performed numerous reunion tours between 1986 & 2002. During those tours, they have offered three different live concert albums at their merchandise tables that were sold only at the concerts that specific year. Now, these releases are out of print and new copies will never be made again.  Here, you can find information on those three albums along with cover art, tracklistings, and more!
